Wildfire Energy One Tree Planted

We plant trees!

In fact, we plant 10 trees for every meter we sign up – that means the
more meters you have, the more trees we plant!

Why?

Why are we doing this?

At Wildfire we feel we have a responsibility to do our bit for the environment. We love getting our customers involved too, by using Wildfire you can save money on your energy and ensure you are having a positive impact on the environment.

Our belief is that changes can happen quicker when ‘business’ takes the lead. This is not to say that governments and countries do not do their bit too – it just often takes too long as they are not agile enough and their polices change with the political wind. Be a business that acts responsibly and join us on our quest to plant more trees…and, of course, enjoy the massive benefit of cheaper business gas and electric.

Why should you work with us?

Demonstrating that you are a responsible and sustainable business is not only something that is virtuous nowadays, but will also become a requirement in the near future. The UK government along with other countries around the world have already committed to a net zero target of 2050.

This target may even be moved to 2040 in the coming years and this has already prompted large business in the UK to begin their 2050 Net Zero projects.

How will this affect smaller businesses?
As bigger business push forward with their Net Zero projects they will want their supply chain to be working towards Net Zero too!

By becoming a greener business, it will allow you to create more opportunities, grow and maintain the clients that you already have. By partnering with us your business will be taking a positive step in the right direction to reduce carbon emissions from the Earth’s atmosphere.

What is Net Zero?

Put simply, net zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. We reach net zero when the amount we add is no more than the amount taken away.

This is all possible because...

We are so lucky to be partnered with One Tree Planted, which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to changing the tide on deforestation. One Tree Planted run reforestation initiatives in 18 countries across six continents.

Planting trees is one of the best ways to combat the damaging effects of climate change. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80 percent of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Trees also provide tremendous social impacts by providing jobs to over 1.6 billion people and supporting communities devastated by environmental damage. Customers who get involved will be able to decide where their trees are planted and have the option to get involved in reforestation projects.

Deforestation - how we can help

Deforestation is one of the major problems we face in the fight against carbon emissions. By planting trees, we can create what is known as ‘Carbon Sinks’ – this is where large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) is absorbed from the atmosphere.

For example, the Amazon rainforest is a carbon sink, hence it is very important to do all we can to protect it and also expand tree planting globally. The main natural carbon sinks are plants, the ocean and soil. Plants grab carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to use in photosynthesis; some of this carbon is transferred to soil as plants die and decompose.

Here you can find more information on deforestation using the map of the world, it also shows tree cover gain, it is not all doom and gloom. Global Forest Watch
